Le site Elbakin.net relaie l'information suivante : actuellement en tournée pour fêter les 10 ans de son American Gods, Neil Gaiman livre de nombreux détails concernant l'adaptation en série de son oeuvre.

Tout d'abord, sur les six saisons prévues, seule la première aurait une filiation directe avec le livre.

Le Monarque dans la vallée, une nouvelle de Gaiman, intégrera le fil de l'histoire, et se placera entre American Gods et deux autres histoires que l'auteur pense concocter d'ici là.

Sans parler des créations qu'il aimerait ajouter, type Jésus, le Big Foot et la ville de Cassadaga, histoire de pimenter un peu les choses.

Une nouvelle information concernant l'adaptation d'American Gods à la télé vient de tomber. Anansi Boys ne devrait pas être exploité dans le cadre de la série. Mais il se pourrait que le livre fasse l'objet d'une adaptation propre, sous la forme d'une mini-série.

"Well, the truth is, it shouldn’t really have been something… There are people in Hollywood in the mailroom—junior lawyers, assistants, and stuff like that—who make money now at $100 a pop or whatever by tipping off websites about things that are going on. Which never used to be the case, because nobody was really interested enough. They were interested in the doings of stars, that was where you got your tip-off money. But nobody would have been tipped off about a TV series in development or whatever. Now, that’s all changed. And there are enough people who are interested, and enough websites where you can… People find stuff out. Which meant that approximately two weeks after it was agreed, you know, we had the meeting with HBO and they said, “Yes, we want to do this.” All that had happened was, the giant contract machine started to roll in, and we started talking and everybody started arguing deals, and what have you. Then suddenly, a fairly full description of what was planned—with a few little errors, but a fairly full description of what was going on and who was doing it—turned up online. "

Voici ce qu'a annoncé Neil Gaiman lors du salon d’Édimbourg : "I got the email yesterday saying that the final contractual tos and fros have been sorted out and I should be free within a couple of weeks to start writing."
