"David Norris is an honest, inspirational Congressman running for the Senate, who unexpectedly is defeated badly. As David prepares his consolation speech, he meets a beautiful woman named Elise (Emily Blunt) who turns his world around. There's an instant bond and attraction and he can't get her out of his head. Inspired by Elise, his consolation speech is a television masterstroke, repeated again and again, and leading many people to believe he has what it takes to be the next president of the United States.

After the speech, as he tries to track down the woman of his dreams, it appears that mysterious forces are at work trying to keep them apart. David learns he is up against the agents of fate itself - the men of The Adjustment Bureau – who will do everything in their considerable power to prevent David and Elise from being together. He must either let her go and accept a predetermined path or risk everything by peeling back the layers of reality..."
