"HoW: With the climax to the entire cycle - 'Magician's End' - finally on the horizon, are you excited at the prospect of finishing the series? Have you been working toward a destination from the very beginning or is the plot for the final book something newly conceived?

Ray: I’m not excited. I’ll miss that reality and be relieved to be done with it at the same time. As for plotting from the start, no. I didn’t know if I was going to sell Magician, let alone 29 other books in the series. Magician’s End has been in my head about five years now, since I realized I would reach the last Riftwar."
